What didn’t change after a year

In Ostoja Wildlife Rehabilitation Center

Coming back as a volunteer after a year, I wasn’t expecting much. I barely thought about the trip here due to many work-related and horseback-archery-related things going on just before I departed to Hejtus, where Ostoja is located.

Even though the beds are different and the camper isn’t there anymore, the bedding has a familiar feel to it.

The Ostoja Diet, which is my usual diet but without much meat due to limited refrigerator and cooking capacity took over again. Even if semi-instant protein pancakes were a new discovery in my arsenal of travel food.

Water birds are still my favourite. Photo by me.

What also didn’t change were some of the faces I expected to change. The girl volunteering just before my last year’s shift is now working in Ostoja, and the girl I shared the camper with arrived at the same time as I this year as well — and brought a friend.
