The 8th edition of the International Horseback Archery Competition On the Wolves’ Path finished last week. We already held competitions this year, but it was the first ranked one, officially starting the 2024 season.

It would have been great to have the competition the week before. It was 20 degrees outside, not very windy, the perfect amount of sunny that manages to warm you but is not sunny enough to blind you.

But the competition took place this weekend, when the temperatures dropped below zero during the night, and the wind blew cold drizzle into your face. The weather was so horrible that none of us had any energy left to have a post-competition barbeque.

Even in these conditions, I’m quite happy with my score. At the end of the competition, I couldn’t care less about how many targets I hit, but after some rest, I realized that this was by far my best result. My best result was both in terms of the final ranking, and points scored in the 234 (Korean) track and hunt (Polish) track.

So while I’m still recovering from the cold I caught during those 2 days, enjoy some photos that fortunately for you don’t transfer the weather to you.

The communication line along the hunt (Polish) track made of human flesh. Used to transfer information on whether the next rider can enter the track after the previous one finished the ride. Photo by Kawalkada Horseback Archery.
